Hi! I'm Maddie.

I love learning about the world, and sharing what I learn through visuals.

When I'm not at my desk, you can find me animal-watching on the beach, doodling on the couch, or catching up on my perpetual list of shows that I've been meaning to watch.

The natural world is an amazing place, and I'm constantly learning things about it. I also use visual media to share what I learn and help get others in on the excitement!

The more that people understand our planet, the more likely they are to care about it; and the more they care about it, the more likely they are to take action to protect it.

In 2020 I graduated from Duke University where I majored in marine biology and minored in visual media studies. While there I did an undergraduate thesis that involved watching brittle stars run around a tank for hours on end, which helped contribute to our understanding of brittle star learning behavior.

Outside of the lab I also produced an explainer video about a whale tag that won a science journalism award, and did a summer internship with the National Geographic Society's video production department.
